Dr. Paul M. Rwambo is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Kenya Livestock Finance Trust (K-LIFT) and was previously the Chairman of the Steering Committee of KVAPS. He holds a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (1980) from the University of Nairobi and a PhD (1987) in microbiology (virology and immunology) from Louisiana State University , Baton Rouge , LA , USA . Dr Rwambo is registered as a veterinary surgeon by the Kenya Veterinary Board and has been an active member of the Kenya Veterinary Association since the 1980s.
Dr Rwambo has undertaken extensive research on viral diseases of livestock with a major focus on virus genetic and antigenic variation, virus replication and morphogenesis, epidemiology and laboratory diagnosis and vaccine development. He has published extensively on several aspects of virology in peer-reviewed journals.
Dr Rwambo has worked with national and international organizations including the Ministry of Livestock Development, Colorado State University, International Livestock Research Institute as a researcher and in AU-IBAR as animal health advisor. Dr. Rwambo worked as project manager of avian influenza with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in Kenya and is currently working with FAO Somalia as an epidemiology advisor.
He has undertaken several consultancies in the livestock sector in the Greater Horn of Africa and is very conversant with project cycle management. Dr Rwambo also participates in management boards of several community organizations and the private sector in Kenya and is a member of the Lions Club International.
